Neuroscience is an interdisciplinary study of how the brain and nervous system functions to generate behavior, emotion and cognition. With improved understanding of brain functioning, the research and work of neuroscientists will help to better understand neurological and psychiatric disorders that affect quality of life and lead to death. Neuroscience integrates fields of study in biology, psychology, chemistry, and computer science. The field of Neuroscience includes the study of cellular/molecular neuroscience
The undergraduate curriculum offers students the opportunity to acquire a deep conceptual understanding of the basic principles of physics and an appreciation of a wide range of physical problems of current interest and the capacity to solve problems. Physics students are encouraged to go beyond course work and become involved in research projects under the mentorship of faculty members.
The BA in Sociology offers a coherent method by which social patterns can be brought to light and applied to the making of social policy decisions. But facts do not speak for themselves. Uncovering the underlying patterns that make facts meaningful is the purpose of social theory and the focus of our department.
The Sport Management program prepares students for a career in collegiate, professional and contemporary sport management venues. Specialized tracks in sport management include collegiate athletics, event and facility management, and sport communication and media relations (approval of tracks is pending). Students are introduced to sport marketing, event operations, mass media, and technology, and gain proficiency in market analysis, budget preparation, event management, facility operations, and business management. Students can choose a cluster of courses or minors in business, communication, and psychology (pending).
The Exercise Science Program prepares students for careers in strength and conditioning, exercise leadership and personal training. Courses include learning objectives for the American College of Sports Medicine
